The City of Rockford is pleased to announce that we will be accepting public comments on the recently completed Rockford Industrial Property Survey.
The purpose of the survey was to heighten awareness of Rockford’s rich industrial history and to assist leaders to make informed land use and redevelopment decisions in these historic areas. This Survey identified 90 structures that were included in the survey’s period of significance. The survey did not include any structures that have already been listed on the National Register or as contributing structures in National Register Historic District.
This Survey was made possible with a grant provided by the Illinois Department of Natural Resources via the Illinois State Historic Preservation Office and its Certified Local Government Grant Program. The City of Rockford contributed matching funding to support its interest in local preservation to educate the public on its historic industrial resources. Landmark Illinois also provided funding through its advocacy program to bring about an awareness of Rockford’s historic resources.
The public comment period will begin on February 6, and conclude on March 8, 2024.
Digital Version of the Survey can be found here.
