Zoning Board of Appeals/Liquor and Tobacco Advisory Board

The City of Rockford Zoning Board of Appeals (ZBA) is comprised of seven Rockford citizens who are appointed by the Mayor and charged with enforcing the provisions of the Rockford Zoning Ordinance. The ZBA holds a public meeting once monthly to hear and make decisions on various petitions to the Board for Zoning Map Amendments, Pre-annexation Agreements, Special Use Permits and Variations to the Zoning Ordinance.

The Zoning Board of Appeals meets on the third Tuesday of every month in 2023 with the exception of January, February and June. For January, February and June, the meeting is held on the third Wednesday of the month. All meetings are held at 5:30 pm in City Council Chambers on the second floor of Rockford City Hall (425 East State Street, Rockford, IL 61104) and are open to the public.

The Zoning Application Form may be filled out online, printed, signed and returned to the City of Rockford Zoning Office with payment. The Zoning Office is located on the 1st floor of City Hall at 425 E State Street, Rockford, IL 61104.
